I cooked a couple of rib eyes yesterday for my inaugural cooking, on an XL demo I bought at the Eggs By the Bayfest. I got the temp to 610, then followed the recipe. They were great. I flipped twice (total time 4 minutes), then close off the vents while the steak still cooked another 10-11 minutes. they were medium (on the done scale)and great (on the taste scale)! Can't wait until the 4th to try more recipes! I can say it was easy to start and watch the temp rise! Compared to cooking a brisket or ribs, my cooking time was like John Glenn's first ride into space. But, the taste was out of this world good!

Bart,[p]Can you post the recipe you followed for us newbies?[p]I LOVE ribeyes and would like to give it a try. So far the only thing I've cooked were ABTs. Those things are out of this world. [p]Considering I've only cooked ABTs twice at around 325 to 350, do you think trying a ribeye at the higher temps right now would be OK or do I need to season my BGE with a few more lower temp cooks? I really don't want a melted gasket.[p]THANKS for all the help![p]Joe
