  • Stewart Saig,
Boil water in a pan, put the probe in the pan but don't let it touch the bottom of the pan. You can use a wrench on the nut on the back of the thermometer to adjust the needle to 212 degrees. Re-check and readjust until you get it right.

  • Stewart Saig,[p]I had to calibrate mine yesterday. What I did was got a pan on the stove and boiled some water. Set two chopsticks laying on top of the pan to hold the thermometer in boiling water. You could also use a paper plate instead of the chopsticks, and poke a hole for the thermometer to sit in. I didn't have a paper plate, yet I had chopsticks...go figure!!![p]On the backside of the probe is a nut. Put an endwrench on it, and with your hand turn the thermometer to adjust to the correct temperature. Here at sea level, water boils at 212 degrees. Different alltitudes boil at different temperatures. I think in Denver, water boils around 190 degrees. [p]BTW...be careful as the thermometer in the boiling water is very hot, so use a small dish rag or an insulated glove.[p]Hope this helps

Stewart Saig,[p]It is normal for those Thermometers to stop at 100. It threw me the first time too.[p]It still won't hurt to do a calibration, but if the boiling water test comes up okay, you're good to go.
