Medium BGE Specs

Greetings! I inherited a medium BGE a few years ago, cleaned it up and used it a bit. Last year, I went to clean it good. I picked up the firebox, and it just sort of came apart in my hands. I tried to repair last fall with refractory cement. I was going to fire it up today, and it's back in pieces. I think I recall that a new BGE firebox will not fit in a old (2006-ish?) medium egg. Can you confirm that it will or won't fit?
Thanks!

They did change sizes since then and went bigger. I would contact bge, they might still have the older boxes. I went years with a 20piece puzzle fire box in my large before getting a replacement thoughbarbecue63 said:Greetings! I inherited a medium BGE a few years ago, cleaned it up and used it a bit. it might take a little time but couldn’t a guy take an angle grinder and reduce the upper diameter of the new fire box? Surely it can’t be that much larger.
Or with a little less effort how about putting some gravel on the bottom of the egg’s outer shell so that the new firebox would sit proud enough to raise it up?Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
Cgs has the new style cooking grid at 15.75 inch diameter and the older med at 15 inch diameterfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

fish - so in other words a guy would need to grind off .75” or .375” off the top lip clear around / sounds like a simple task for an angle grinder. Of course a guy would need to secure that firebox against say a piece of plywood while grinding to prevent movement. I’d take on that diameter reduction challenge in a heartbeat…if I wasn’t laid up in this hospital bed!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

The only way to get it to work was to put an old ceramic firegrate under the firebox to lift it up about 1/2". Finally when I compared it to a new one I had in the shop it all made sense that the changed the dims a little.
