Greetings friends,
when we get bad (for us) weather, I sometimes make it a point to fire the LBGE up - just to prove to the non-believers that the machine shrugs off ALL KINDS of bad weather like the Hall of Fame shrugging off Belichick …
… last week was ice. ..
.. this week was 11” of snow in one day…
four butts
225°
rockwood lump and local hickory chunks
21.5+ lbs yield
FB500
Pics out of order as usual..

The SmokeWare cap needs a warming fire to loosen. Chunk of hickory in the gap does the trick.

Yellow Mustard binder, Damien Butt Rub, prepped Eggside in the DripEZ collapsible tub. All four fit in there with the Ceramic Grill Works carbon steel dual level swing grate.
I’m still looking for another, or two, of those..

That is having fun and getting it done. Great cook and results. Always beautiful bark. You definitely have this dialed in and have for quite a while. Super Bowl party star of the show right there.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
What is this “Damien Butt Rub” of which you speak?"I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

There is something especially rewarding about below-zero cooks, though I don't do them as often as I used to. The only real issue that has cropped up for me is needing to plug in the smobot when it's too cold for the battery pack. Nice work on those butts!Stillwater, MN

What prevents the SMOBOT from getting gummed up?Large BGE and Medium BGE

when mine gets gummed up I just lightly pry up on the top and it pops apart. or manually squeeze the pivots together to get it moving. Ive cleaned it just once in 6 or 7 years.South of Columbus, Ohio. -
My cooking area is mostly covered so I don't have to worry about snow or ice being a problem and that has not been problem for me. It must stay warm enough to avoid getting stuck. I'd be more concerned if using one of the fan-type controllers. Once temp is dialed in the smobot is probably not moving much anyway, but if I was concerned I'd give it a good cleaning beforehand.MaskedMarvel said:
