Heads‑Up: Forum Software Update on Monday, February 9

We’re rolling out a Forum software update on Monday, February 9 to improve performance, security, and spam prevention. This release also includes behind‑the‑scenes fixes that should make image posting much easier - we know this has been a frequent issue the last few months.

What to expect

  1. A brief maintenance window (posting and log‑ins may be intermittently unavailable)

  2. No action needed from members; your account and posts will remain exactly as they are

  3. If anything looks off after the update, please refresh your browser and report issues in this thread

    I fail on these requirements:

    1. …. model positive, constructive participation

    2. Strong communicators with a calm, fair approach to community conversation

I think one of my threads may be the siren call for new mods 🤣

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Not sure folks would be too happy with me having the nuclear option.

It’s not about the mere presence of a nuclear button, John. It’s all about whose button is bigger.

I think if we had mods, people looking at the door would probably walk through it.

Maybe mods to approve new members?  That process still takes days - months.

Vetting new members-surely you jest?  I'm all in for supporting whomever initially walks thru the door.  The challenge is to get them to want to continue to participate here.  A few of us have tried to sort out how to make this place more interactive and always come up short.
There are a lot of "what are you...now threads" that consume otherwise great stand-alone thread options across more than cheffing topics.
I'm convinced that more stand-alone threads will engage the new members, topic be da-ned.
I don't see where this forum (OT exempt) needs moderators as we are quite good at self-policing in my opinion.
    FWIW-
BTW- @GrateEggspectations continues to turn out Michelin starred banquets on a frequent basis.  Screen licking material every cook.

Upon additional review, educating BGE dealers about this site would make a difference in traffic here.  Exposure especially with the initial sale/venture into life with a BGE would bring more forum interest IMHO.  FWIW-

This ^^ not seeing the need for moderators at the moment. If we get a big influx of people whose posts require moderation then yes.

I have been a moderator in the past for BGE groups in Facebook, it's really important to be able to stay out of the drama triangle which isn't easy. Even if one does stay out, there will always be comeback from someone when their post is moderated and they don't agree with it.
