House-sat for neighbours while they were visiting family over the holidays, the nice couple brought us these thoughtful souvenirs.

Very thoughtful of them, and nice of you to take care of their place. Is that a serving board?

@kl8ton Descaling tankless water heater. It's an after-thought DIY config, because I didn't know better back in 2008 and the installer got away with omitting a proper descaling kit. Live and learn.

its never ending. changed out the water heater 3 years ago, changed out the pump this fall, and its probably time to drive another point for the well. hot water is already showing rust after 3 years so flush that out this spring........

I'm lucky with clean city water that's not too hard. Started doing the descaling more than ten years after installation. about once a year.

Moving others over to new email addresses

Removing contact/2-factor methods and linked accounts.

Updating physical addresses and removing old ones.

    Changing beneficiaries.

Dang, there is a lot to move around and change with decades of shared history and internet with someone.  Gonna be much better organized next time.

@GrateEggspectations Guilty as charged BUT it's not like
    1) aiming your snowblower at the busy street in front of your house, or
    2) driving with that pile of snow on the roof, then stopping in live traffic to brush it off the windshield and hood after braking hard.
It's a dead end and I am not the only one adding to the official pile started and maintained by the city's snow removal crew 😂

Despite the miserable weather we find ourselves amid the transfer window and managerial merry-go-round. Chelsea’s and Man Utd pulling respective triggers on the man in the hottest remind us that no one is safe.  OK, both incumbents had challenging periods of command but their teams sit close to European qualification, which begs the question - what do the owners want or expect?   Elsewhere, the AFCON reaches the final this weekend and the hosts look favourites through home advantage, but Senegal are strong

    Here we go then;

Man Utd vs Man City - and it’s hello Michael Carrick in time to welcome the neighbours around for a bit of a kick about, just for fun.  City are purring and that’s enough to make me go 0-2 and watch out Arsenal too.

Chelsea vs Brentford - the new man at Chels’ has a comfortable cup win under his belt already so perhaps sensible stability is they way forward after all?  But, the Bees have mysteriously found themselves in 5th - from nowhere, well apart from the 6 game unbeaten run.  So a decent test for both sides. 2-1

Leeds vs Fulham - the Dirty Leeds tasted defat for the first time in six matches last time out and this is just the match they would fancy to right the ship.  Now 8 points clear of the relegation zone and very much looking upwards, a win puts them firmly on course for mid-table obscurity and safety. 2-0

Liverpool vs Burnley - three draws and three defeats in the last 6 are not going to keep the Clarets up.  The Reds have plateaued recently too, with three straight draws, but this is 3-0 all day long.

Sunderland vs Palace - oh dear, the inevitable turned out to be inevitable afetrall and Palace have paid a huge price for failing to fill the ranks in the Summer. Down to 13th and without a win since about 1973, it seems.  OK, new faces coming in a nd injuries healing - but it’s about resilience and confidence now.  A draw would be lovely, and faintly achievable as the Maccems too have slipped back in recent weeks.  1-1

Spurs vs West Ham - it’s all nuts for these guys.  Apex Spursy Spurs host the flailing Hammers.  Two shocking seasons in the making here and the guests genuinely looking down the barrel unless something significant occurs soon.  1-0 and grim viewing.

Forest vs Arsenal  - the hosts are just north of the dreaded dotted line, but not convincing.  The Gunners really do look the real deal this time out.  Firing on all cylinders and going well.  0-3

    Sunday

Wolves v Newcastle - five points form heir last 3 games, is this the moment for the Old Gold?  Unlikely, but Toon are not great own the road. however, being in 6th place does suggest they should have enough about them to take the three points. Oddly, a paint each does feel about right although it’s essentially throwing a dog a rubber bone, for Wolves.  1-1

Villa v Everton - the hosts sit joint second not by the power of luck and as improved as the Toffees have become, they won’t take the points form this one. 2-1

    Monday

Brighton vs Bournemouth - so neither team are not setting the world alight in any regard.  The Cherries have slipped down the table but don’t really have the credentials to be relegation fodder, and the fetid filthy Seagulls are just too important to the media to be permitted such indignity as struggling for survival.  This will be a game of no importance that simply exists for statistical purposes, and of course TV.  0-0.

So while the PL table is taking a familiar shape, perhaps by next week you guys will have a few additional stars to add to your flag?

Other girls may try to take me away
But you know, it's by your side I will stay

where did you get the pump? the Bosch I have is set up nicely for descaling - inlet and outlet connections built in on the bottom side. no need for external bypass valves. Home Depot sells one for $260 or so, yours looks a lot like an old sump pump I used to have...

@zaphod Found my order confirmation email, paid $48.88 on sale at Princess Auto in 2021, they still carry it for $99.99.
    https://www.princessauto.com/en/1-3-hp-utility-pump/product/PA0008887101
During the summer months I use it to pump water out of the rain barrels.

Fortunately my washing machine valves are so close to the heater. I installed shutoff valves below them so the heater can be isolated from the rest of the house, thus allowing the washing machine valves to double duty as heater flushing valves.
