Filet mignon with blue cheese cream sauce, salt and vinegar smashed potatoes and Caesarish salad

We have been running non-stop the last two weeks or so.

Regrettably, we broke tradition of having dinner with great friends the last 25 years or so on NYE (only a few exceptions, when we were out of the country) and instead needed a quiet evening at home.
Some champagne followed by red with dinner. Dinner was filet mignon (broken down from whole tenderloin), an onion, mushroom and blue cheese sauce, salt and vinegar smash potatoes (home run of a recipe) and a homemade Caesar.
Thanks for looking.

Happy New Year, all.

As always such a delicious looking banquet.
And a top-notch wine selection there!
Happy New Year! -
What a banquet as is always the case. Great cook and presentation. Photo number four (from the top) is a magazine cover shot. A Michelin star restaurant banquet in your kitchen right there.
Happy New Year!🎇🍾🥂Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -

Damn, we are trying to survive whatever virus we caught a couple of weeks ago; we had sandwiches for diner last night 😂🤣. Your new year’s eve feast looks fantastic!____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli

Thanks, all. Very generous feedback. If anyone deserves Canuck Legend status, it’s you, @Canugghead. Hope pic #10 caught your attention. Used for both some measuring during prep and the butter basting (butter readily accessible via my newly acquired butter keeper; thanks, @CTMike) once the steaks were cooked.

Sorry you’re sick, @paqman. Not a great way to celebrate the New Year. As you know, the viruses have been pretty bad this year. We were all sick a few weeks back as it made its way through our household over the course of a couple of weeks. Not fun.

Aw yeah… I love the look of the potatoes. I’ll have to find a recipe somewhere. I have a bag of baby golds that I need to use up. Very cool post, thank you for sharing!

I’ve said this before, but I’m not really a potato guy and I can’t recommend this recipe enough. My wife has taken to making them extra crispy, and the texture and flavour are incredible. With the simple salt and vinegar sauce, it’s an easy, knockout side.Followed the recipe minus: i) repurposing some of the bacon fat from the bacon cooked for the Caesar salad; and ii) letting the potatoes cook longer than specified until they crisped up beautifully. For reference, pic #3 is of the flip while pic #5 was the finished product where we liked them.I am confident they will become a favourite for anyone who tries them. -
@GrateEggspectations - that potato recipe looks great, will definitely try it."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike
