I cleaned the filter on my parents washer and it stopped leaking. Unfortunately I couldn't do anything about the severe mold from OCD dad constantly closing the washing machine door without either drying the gasket or letting it air dry. Let's not talk about the fridge and microwave .

i know that feeling from having a weld shop. my cheap lawnchair broke, etc etc etc, pick it up, take it to work, ill spend an hour to fix it, then return it.  my new line is ill fix it if you buy my dad a 15 dollar bottle of kendall jackson chardonnay. seems to be enough for them not to comeback...... ;)

What are we looking at? Two air filters - one severely degraded - in a single compartment?

  • @GrateEggspectations mice have relocated the insulation from my hood liner into the air box for a cozy nest on one of my farm trucks.

Could even be a pulled pork cook gone a bit sideways on a air fed flavour (nod) aspirated one-off engine experiment.   =)

  • Talk me into throwing away my vp215 box @Canugghead. I’ve kept it because I thought someone mentioned sending theirs back for a repair or something but honestly I’ve seen the guts and it doesn’t look very complicated so repairs will be done in house.

Oh no, what went wrong? Touch wood, mine is 11yo and never had a problem. Please document your fix with lots of pics, it'll come in handy for me. TIA!

Nothing yet! Sorry for the miss understanding, I’ve been keeping my original cardboard box in-case I need to ship it back for some unforeseen reason but I am straightening my basement up and was asking for permission to discard the box!

My bad @alaskanassasin, lost in translation :)
I hang on to the packaging for all big ticket items, especially if it's from Costco 😂

A good compromise is to discard the styrofoam and save the flattened box.

I also have the benefits of living in a Big City (nod fishless) where most oem approved repair facilities are within reasonable driving distance  ;)

  • Upon further reflection I don't recall ever sending something back to a manufacturer in the original packaging.

  •  While on the topic of the VP215, when I was vacuum sealing halibut a friends house in Alaska last summer, his VP215 was quiet. I mean you could hear the air being pumped out of the machine quiet. Mine sounds like a air compressor, rattling and loud. I wonder if his had a updated pump or something, he said it was a wet pump (oil change model) but maybe it was the dry sump pump, Not sure but significantly quieter that mine.

I thought vp215 uses oil pump. Will pay attention next time I use mine, hard to tell without a baseline for comparison though, I also don't have a decibel meter.

  • You are correct, the 210 has the dry sump.  So mine must be exceptionally loud. I assumed they all were until I used his.

I downloaded an app. 69DB. I doubt I will get my buddy to measure the DB on his, he has 4 boys under 10yo so its probably always over 69DB in his house.

Downloaded Sound Meter, without doing any calibration, 12" in front of unit meter, 61db

  • Was going to recommend an app, @Canugghead. No idea if they’re very accurate though.

A lot of the bars in Mérida, Mexico have decibel meters behind the bar to see if they’re running afoul of noise bylaws.

Tried another random app, measured 47 db. They are all over the map!

Talk about a head scratcher...Around 10:20 AM (EST) today I stopped receiving emails to my desktop email program.  Figured my email source was down.  Tried to log in to the source via the web browser-no luck.
Took care of a few errands and a couple of hours later still down. However, the email on my phone was just fine.
WTF?? So I switched default browsers and all is well.  Never before experienced that deal.

Do you have an Apple phone or Android?  The audiophile forums say all iPhones use the same mic and so fairly accurate dB meters can be developed, whereas Android phones are built by everyone else and their brother and there's little consistency.

been having that problem between windows 10 and firefox since windows 10 stopped upgrading last month. might be time for a newer old computer on my end =) switching browsers works as well as restarting win 10 to and older date for my email to work
