SRF Gold brisket worth it?

We have a couple of friends coming over in a few weeks, and I am tasked with a brisket. I usually buy Prime from Costco, but I have wanted to try the SRF, and it is currently on sale

Have any of you tried this? Worth the price difference, especially when the goal is to show off? And if I order now, while on sale, it ships frozen, I think, so there is no problem with it sitting in the freezer until needed, right?

The Golds are too fatty in my opinion. Black is the best option.

If a good sale I will buy one around every year or so but @DoubleEgger is right about the fat content. I would go with black over gold for your first run with SRF.
Regarding frozen brisket, as long as the cryovac is intact it can sit for years. You will need to give it a good 5 days in the fridge to thaw before smoking.

I’ve never ordered an SRF brisket - been very happy with selecting my own from Costco. Plus, the price at Costco is always right..

Once you go Black you will never go back. However, to be fair if serious then you do need to try gold at least once. Be Mindful.
If you get into the SRF system (like all others) you can get alerts on some great deals (infrequent). I scored a 14-16 lb gold for $158 (free shipping) this past September. Best recent deal I can recall. (Flash sale.)

I suck at brisket - my Costco Primes have been equal to the SRF blacks I’ve done. My Dino ribs are about 5x the flavor/experience than any brisket I’ve ever done.
There is a significant overlap between the smartest bears and the dumbest humans - Park Ranger designing bear proof trash cans.

I was shopping at Costco a few days ago. Prime whole brisket was $6.50/lb. Last time I purchased one it was $3.95, early summer.For nearly twice the price, I'd feel like I had to actually eat the point.

Well I have the SRF gold brisket in the fridge and thawed. 15.4lbs, plan is to eat lunch Saturday. So I'm thinking I'll season tomorrow afternoon but I'm curious about cooking time. With it having so much more fat will it finish faster or slower?Boom

FWIW $20-$30 actually— i noticed SRF offering 10% cash back on $200+ in credit card offers within the for my credit card. the fine print caps it at $30 cash back so you max the benefit at $300 purchase.
so BOLO if you are the type to cruise the offers on your cards and get little incremental rewards for “purchases you would have made anyway”. companies do this on various cards to incentivize sales or “revive latent demand” as they say in the biz. -
SRF doing free shipping on orders over $99, free lobster tails with orders over $249.@FanOfFanboys, it will cook faster than a choice or prime brisket. I’ll echo what was said about it probing at a lower temp as well. I’ve never splurged on gold, black grade for me every time
