XL base replacement wait time.

So my base on my XL cracked. I put in for a warranty replacement and was approved by BGE HQ. I went to my local dealer (not where I purchased it originally) who is a Platinum dealer to get a replacement ordered. The issue is that they are telling me that I have to wait for them to place a restocking order which could be a couple of months away. The warranty and replacement communication between BGE and me has been fine, but I really don't feel like I should have to wait for the dealer and not be able to use my egg in the meantime. Any ideas on how to expedite a replacement base? ETA That I went back in to check yesterday on my lunch break to try to get an update, and they weren't very helpful and had no info.

Also, will my 2011 bands work on the new base?

AFAIK that's how the system works, you get free shipping by piggybacking on a dealer's restock delivery. Hopefully they'll restock for Thanksgiving/Christmas. If the crack is not too bad and you're not egging on a wood deck, you can still use it with all safety precautions in place.

If the distributor is within reasonable driving distance maybe they'll let you pick up from there?  In contrast, KJ ships warranty replacement for free direct to you (no sure if that has changed).

No idea on the band fit.

  • i heard a complaint from an outgoing dealer that they had to take off cycle shipments for warranty — so who knows if that was accurate or some other distributor setup.

i would work through bge customer service to see what other dealers or distributors would have one in stock.

the ginormous eggtoberfest just happened which would have consumed all of hq’s time - so maybe you could get some help now. the hq needs to know about the new warranty experience. would be interested to hear if they think this is a normal delay expectation or not.

It's been 90 days the warranty on my Large base, fire box, and fire ring was approved.....nothing yet at my platinum dealer.
  • yuck!  side note — looks like they are still selling leftover eggtoberfest demos on the website for pickup in atlanta only.  thru 10/31.

Have them ship direct to you. I had to replace a piece on my xl, got it about a week later.

Picked up my replacement base a week ago, so it took about 3 weeks. Got everything back together, and I'm egging like new. My only real complaint is the lack of communication from the dealer, but at least I know what to expect if it happens again. I did end up buying new bands as well.

I guess this is as good of a place to ask as any...I thought when ACE took over for the rest of us mortals that replacements would improve. Your replacement after being approved by Hotlanta would come on the next ACE delivery truck passing thru your locale. Reason being replacements would be stocked at ACE distribution centers scattered across the US. Anybody have experience to chime in?

Surely we wouldn't have to wait until distributions center would have a truck(s) going to Atlanta and then back and then to individual stores...or would they?
