Drink at the Creek (EggFest) and Safety PSA Reminder

We had our annual EggFest for our local Ace Hardware on Saturday. We hold this event at a local Winery/Brewery that puts on an outdoor concert series. It's always a hit. We sold out in 3 hours (Expected to serve 4 hours). Every dollar goes towards a local Women and Men's Rescue organization. I did 60 lbs of Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce. Lots of good eats!!

Now for the PSA. These eggs were transported back to the store (Ace hardware) yesterday morning. Where they get cleanup up, the ash emptied and put away in a shed until next time. One of the kids (Employee) put the ash, he was cleaning out, in a plastic trash can. We all know what happened next. Luckily the whole event was over in 10 minutes with the FD showing up in 3 minutes. No major losses. Just some totes with eggfest supplies and a Cambro. I store my ash in galvanized cans with lids, and you all should too.

I should be on the cover of BGE's quarterly Monthly magazine...LOL :)

Way to step up and help the community.  Glad the fire was no worse than you described.
Next day and still hot embers.  For those of you who buy and transport a BGE after an Eggfest-make sure the ash is cleaned out or you will get an unwanted surprise once on the road.

Something is in the air. read my just now post on my egg relighting itself after 24 hours.

was it the just ash put away in the plastic trash can or the ash and remaining lump together? For me today, it was the remaining (supposed to be cold) lump that reignited on it's own.

I really enjoy the eggfests, hanging out with friends, and the libations.

It sucks for the youngster, but very happy nothing worse happened. He has learned a very valuable lesson he will never forget, and hopefully he spreads the caution for others the rest of his life.

    The chickens looked delicious!
