is there a difference that a $132 ironing board gives me over a $32 ironing board? I'll never know.
It will snap closer to the warrantee expiration than the cheaper one.

nah, I thought about replacing the weld joint with a bolt, but the cheap-*ss metal they used wouldn't take anything bigger than a 3/32 hole.

Thanks all for chiming in. I tried wrapping the cable in soft foam but it was kind of finicky, may try gluing the foam to the door frame or gasket. Doesn't look too bad without the foam though, so I may not bother. OTOH, I'm also thinking perhaps cutting a slit/channel in the gasket may work better.
@zaphod, the cable is 1/8" diameter.
@fishlessman, great suggestion re hinge side, that way it stays out of the way.

home depot has a soft window seal foam tape sold in a roll for light money. if you can find it in white i dont know. stick it to the frig side in 2 pieces with a gap for the wire should work.

Duct tape a thin piece of soft foam on either side of that cable ... feather it to a point if you're good with a knife ... that will help seal that gasket 100% ... you don't want too much humidity sneaking into freezers, or you'll end up with ice build up.

@fishlessman I don't care about colour, it's located in the basement utility room.

@Mark_B_Good You nailed it...I rerouted the cable through the top corner of the door gasket, hinge side. The gap was smaller than shown in pic above, two days later I noticed icicles hanging from the top shelf near the cable. I yanked out the whole shebang.

Will try the weatherstripping foam thingy. I'm almost tempted to just punch a hole through the thick accordion style door gasket but I may end up in the dog house 😂

    Here's what I'd try:

    - Squirt the silicone sealant of your choice onto some cellophane, and let it cure for 24 hours.  Did it attack the cellophane, so you couldn't peel it off?  If so, could you not peel it off but it didn't melt?  If so, you're good to go (I did this with that Copper Gasket sealant stuff as my first gasket replacement on my LBGE; the cellophane peeled off easily, so I scraped off the original gasket, layed two heavy beads of Copper Gasket stuff on the rim of the lower bowl, carefully spread out two sheets of cellophane flat across the lower bowl, then gently lowered the lid (with its original gasket also scraped off) onto the lower bowl.  Let it cure 48 hours, open up the Egg, and easily peel off the cellophane.  Perfect, airtight seal for the next ten years!)

    - If your silicone sealant of choice doesn't attack the cellophane, I'd lay a sheet of it over the plastic/metal corner of your freezer (assuming the gasket is on the lid), press it in tight, push the cable back into the corner joint with liberal goobing up of all the cracks and crevasses with the silicone (or, maybe Copper Gasket sealant stuff?) and then just lower the lid.  I have no idea how long silicone or Copper goop will take to cure if its at room temp on one side and below 0º C (nod) on the other... if it were me, I would just leave it until the next time I had to drop/retrieve some food, and poke it with a toothpick or something, to see if it's hardened (both glues have volatile non-water solvents, so the cold shouldn't be an issue).

Here's a pic of my Copper Gasket goop seal, after 10+ years of cooks (including many 900º cooks (F this time) during my Moronic Marathon Margharita phase:

I took several photos including the really-decayed area, but being I just updated to Mac OS/iOS 26, I can't find them yet!  I have a certified @RRP gasket waiting in the wings to be installed, but still a couple of more-pressing chores to do first (like finding my truck keys).

@BeanHead - Your DH has no clue how good he has it. Sweet.  Always remember, there is no licensing requirement to be a boat operator.
To maximize use, find yourself a slip in a marina where you would frequent.  Park it there.  The reduced hassle level means many more spontaneous outings.

Some states like Alabama now require a Boater Safety Course Certificate as a license.

About time for some level of training for those who grab the helm.  Can be quite scary out there.

I appreciate the guidance and safety concerns! We both grew up boating and have owned boats before and have clocked many hours of driving them, our big worry (as with most things) is the idiots around us on the water. Just packed in our required safety gear and my neurotic extras. Fingers crossed for a couple nice catches to throw on a BGE tomorrow afternoon!

At least they were big toys (as measured in several K tons displacement) but the few, the stupid had no clue the relative maneuverability.  The law of gross tonnage was always in play but the challenges were with those who had no appreciation for the rules of the road, especially in clearly marked harbour (nod) channels.

It is amazing to me when folks in small boats expect similar maneuvers from super tankers… but I guess my grasping Physics II enough to barely earn an A gives me a slight edge.or it could be common sense that a giant tanker isn’t going to turn on a dime.

Sadly, the same mass/braking/steering/velocity issues also apply, bigly, on our highways.  ie, don't "brake-check" an 18-wheeler on a motorcycle (plenty of videos to watch).   :|

Nice but I don't need one. I'm in the Ridgid ecosystem too, love their tire inflator. Have not have the need to claim any replacement under LSA yet.

I inherited Rigid tools when I took over this business. So.... Just makes sense to keep going. Everything that has failed is not registered!  I check every time. One of these days, something I registered will fail.
