A lot of us like to rock the Large and Mini Max combo. We are a family of four and most cooks suit the latter just fine. I like the MM enough that I have two - one on the front porch and one on the back porch. The are certainly times where I feel the XL would be nice, but I’ve never had my current Egg configuration act as an obstacle to a cook. The MM is billed as being portable, but note that upon last check, I think it was 80lbs or so - so not exactly back-friendly.
-
I've got a Large and a Mini. The Mini is too small for two except for occasional usage. Fortunately, I usually cook for just myself. I'd previously had a Medium and the Mini, and that was fine for two.Somewhere on the Colorado Front Range

I love the medium for two people. It doesn’t burn a lot of lump. It’s very responsive and easy to cook on. It’s large enough to be able to do bona-fide indirect cooking. It’s a great setup for the wife and I especially for quicker weekday cooks. By the time I finish prep work for a quick meal, the egg is ready to go (with Rockwood).

another vote for a M/M for a party of two. Mine is a Small which they chopped off half the base to make the M/M. I also have a mini which is great for one but also works fine for your party of two.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

The smallest rig I own is the SBGE (paired with the LBGE and other toys...) and it is a hacker. The cooking area is the same as the MM if I recall correctly and it holds more lump. You can roll it for 8+ hrs (at around 250*F) to cook a mid sized pork butt (5-6 lbs) as an example.
For two people I would definitely add it to your stable. Just an opinion...

yes, the small and the MMX both have a 13" grill. the MMX might hold less lump, but it's 4 lbs lighter 76lbs versus the 80lbs of the small~~

Medium for sure! Efficient, long cooks, hot cooks. Just need to have a woo with stone and a cast iron grate. Hard to beat combo! Good Luck!I drink cheap beer so I can afford good bourbon.

It’s either the MiniMax or the Medium if you ask me. Let the decision be whether or not you want to bring it with you places."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

I had a medium for about 2 days. I assembled it and immediately said "too small". fortunately the dealer made me a swap for a large and I love it. If I got another medium for my second, my wife would side-eye me for the rest of my life.

Small.. if you can find one. The small, medium, and mini have been discontinued

I anticipate this means it will only get harder to obtain replacement parts under warranty for these sizes. If so, only makes sense to consider sizes still currently in production, IMO.shtgunal3 said:Small.. if you can find one. The small, medium, and mini have been discontinued -
I think a MM would be good, I have a large BGE and a Komado Joe Jr, The Jr gets almost all of the work and is perfect for then two of us.In the bush just East of Cambridge,Ontario

I wouldn’t disagree with you but I love my small. If I could one only have one egg, I would get rid of the Large and mini and keep the small. It is a true workhorse and by far my most used egg.GrateEggspectations said:

Small, for sure. The Large/Small combo is great.
I also have a Mini, but even though it is portable and travels easily, it takes more planning if cooking for more than two people.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!
3 Large, 1 Small, 1 well-used Mini -
my small took forever to light, sometimes as much as 45 minutes to get to temp. hated it, gave it away. use a mini alot, and a large. i say get a second large and drop the grill way down low and use less lump and use the same pots pans etc that you use in the first large. i just pretty much cook protien on the mini veggies would go on the gasserfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Respect. Never owned a small, but I bet they kill.shtgunal3 said:

Kinda regret not getting on that train. -
The medium is great, holds heat very well and you can expand the size of the cooking area with a top rack if need be.

Wow, y'all amaze me once again, great info for sure. I'm looking for used so it might be whatever I can find nearby. It'll either be a MM or a small or a medium (whichever I come across first). it'll be awesome whichever I find, that I know! TY!!Retired Navy, LBGE

as another option, those pk table top grills look nice, compact, portable and have a 20 year warranty. ive seen some posts with those grills on here. when i had a small egg i did a few low and slows on it but the large just does low and slows better. i used the small mostly as a grillfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

When did they discontinue the Medium and Small? I see them listed for sale on the BGE website. The Mini isn't available for sale but everything else seems to be available to purchase."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

if they discontinued the medium and small, along with the mini earlier this year, that would leave nothing between the MMX and the Large.~~

Congrats. Great little units. Alerted a friend (Primo owner) about one going for cheap on the classifieds years back and he loves it.bradleya123 said:

The MINI is outstanding for two or 21. The forum sent one to Afghanistan to a MP Company.Back to only two.

For all you guys thinking of getting rid of your Mini, here's a few reminders of what can be cooked on the Mini.

I suppose you could also cook all that stuff on larger Eggs, but for two people, you sure have a lot of choices of things to cook on a Mini.
By the way, the Mini is the perfect Christmas gift to get someone started in Egg'n.
Merry Christmas to All...
