OT - Auctioning Spirits?

I have a bourbon horde that’s 50-75 years old.

Are you selling? When I examined the opportunity:

the fees made auctioning hardly worth it.

Local “bourbon nerds” are cheap and don’t commit.

Selling to restaurants that feature vintage bourbon wasn’t great. NC liquor law gets esoteric when going through this process.

I ended up keeping most and giving some as part of groomsmen gifts. Not the $$$ I hoped for. Better experience value.

Now BUYING?

… I dunno.

Would you be selling locally or might there be shipping involved? Here in the US it can be difficult to legally ship spirits. This site gives a summery of the challenges: https://www.eposnow.com/us/resources/how-to-ship-alcohol/

Whenever I have to ship a bottle (following a lost bet) I use UPS and call it BBQ sauce. If I get busted with UPS (has never happened) they will just enjoy it. The USPS could make things much more uncomfortable it they were to choose to do so.

My honest advice is hold out for the private market. You’ll make more, it’ll go to someone you’d like to have drink them, and you’ll avoid a whooooole lot of PITA.

you KNOW we’re gonna have to see these bottles, right?

I trade and buy through some bourbon groups. I ship more BBQ sauce than KC Masterpiece 😆. Id be interested in a few bottles if you’re interested in parting with some.

On one of the egghead exchanges I tried to ship a few craft beers from my town along with various barbecue items. The package arrived late if I remember correctly. It was lacking the beers that I shipped.

Years ago, I bought a case of the world’s best rated beer - Westvleteren 12. Was relatively expensive at the time, but an experience I will cherish forever.
