While he can do this to some extent in the US, his agency in other countries is far more limited.  The future for eVs made by other car companies is looking very good right now.

But I don’t live in other countries and the US is frequently the 800 pound gorilla worldwide anyway. 

Sorry, I wasn't trying to suggest that what he's doing doesn't have an impact on people here in the US.  It certainly does.

All I was suggesting was that I don't think he's going to end up being successful killing his competition in the eV space, at least not long term.  BYD is killing him at the moment, and they're not even available in the US.

the masquerade is that someone who is very wealthy as an inventor is so wealthy that he is donating his time to rescue america in his image. 

well, he’s not really an inventor. that’s ok because first mover advantage is a myth over the long haul. 

but what he is good at is ruthless strategy.  he is not good at philanthropy.  he is not good at sharing.

he convinced the most impressionable people that he is robin hood and we’re just riding it out.

No, it depends on the topic or what aspect of him is being discussed. I haven't seen or heard "let's discuss Elon, the complete man" anywhere, nor do I think it's an obligation for anyone to say "I hate what he's doing with Twitter, but that boring company, what a great idea"
