OT: Taught My Grandson How To Cook A Filet

He's a sophomore in the culinary program at the Technical HS, but for the first two years they only do baking. He loves steak and wanted help to cook a filet. This is how it turned out.
Seasoned heavily with salt and pepper, then seared two minutes each side in a cast iron pan with EVOO and then some butter for basting. Roasted for 6 minutes in a 400 F oven. Tented rest for a couple minutes.

A garlic rosemary compound butter and Maldon finishing salt after it came out of the oven.
He is loving it.

He’s def got a leg up with your tutelage. Great results.
Surprised to hear the first two years is baking alone. Curious about the rationale. -
He just aced the final!Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

i don’t have any links or support at immediate disposal but think culinary as a base has unlimited upside for efficiency awareness that translates to manufacturing, industrial engineering etc. it’s what they discover if they get bored on the line.
