My dome thermometer, is something wrong?

I've seen a couple of times where the needle suddenly jumps forward quite a few degrees.....I've got a recording of it going from 400 to 420 in a jump rather than a smooth movement.....
Is that a sign of something wrong? Can I fix it? Makes question how accurate my temps are going to be if I'm using a dodgy thermometer?
(I do have temp pen, EggGenius for actual cooking, but I'd like to know my thermometer is working properly too)

mine does the same from time to time. Maybe we both have broken thermometers (just kidding, I put it down to an artifact of the bi-metal analog thermeter).

I have been on the help chat with BGE and they've said to recalibrate it. Not sure that doing that will fix a stuck needle, but I'll give it a go before going back to them

could have a slight bend in it.  20 degrees wont effect the cook at 400 degrees anyways.

I did see it do a bigger jump as well, but either way not ideal to have a sticky thermometer, especially as it's all pretty much new.

Nothing wrong with re-calibrating it to see if it made a difference and if not then you can call the mother ship and tell them that you did and it didn't help - I'm not sure they will say it is under warranty but in all fairness then they just might be in a good mood and send you a replacement.

BTW out of curiosity in fine print on the face of the dial do you see the words: Tel-Tru?  Last I knew BGE had been using Tel-Tru thermometers for several years now. T/T makes a fine product but then lemons do happen!

Mine sticks every so often. When I see it stopped on the same temp for too long while heating up I'll give it a tap and it bounces to the correct temperature. Despite this it is still as accurate as I need it to be and doesn't seem to stick the rest of my cook..

It's the todo list for this weekend, UK weather has been even more miserable than usual so I've barely ventured outside!
