Meater alternatives

Ruined a nice 5lb rib roast Saturday when my probe lost connection only 12’ from cooker. Has happened before and to both my sons whom I gifted. I’m done with this POS. Any alternatives to wireless remote probes?

I use a Meater+ and have for years with only a few hiccups.
I don't use it to track the temp in the egg, I use my thermometer for that. I use it as a guideline on larger cuts and set my warnings for 20 deg below when actually want to pull. Also use my thermoapen to confirm temps.
Now on to your question, this is what I will replace my Meater+ with when they die:

Dang it. They had a $50 off sale. So got the bundle with the probe, range extender, and portable screen. Just what I didn't need right now.

The display is pretty useless though, it is almost impossible to read in the sun and only shows one probe at a time. I used it only once and then just started using the app. I eventually want to build my own giant thermometer with a LED strip to show the status of the cook/probes.
I initially purchased two probes and one of them quit on me. The grey silicone seal is probably what caused the failure.

The Meater doesn't have much range, I agree. I seldom use mine (one of the originals) but when I do I found a good workaround.
I set my iPad nearby, and connect to the Meater with that. Then the iPad acts as a relay and my phone, on the same wifi network, picks it up from anywhere. A little clumsy, but reliable.Cincinnati, Ohio. Large BGE since 2011. Still learning. -

Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting. The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president.
