caliqueen has quite a few bitter melons/gourds growing this year, and I’ve been thinking of cooking this dish for a while. Basically, bitter melon with scrambled eggs, a smidge of DP Peking.

I’ve apparently been away from the forum long enough, that I don’t know how to get a thread going. Anyways, here’s what it looked like…Recipe from this book, which I’ve been meaning to dive in to for some time:Fried rice and chili/chile chicken to make it a meal. Water velveted the chix, and fried it up ala Kenji’s method invite Wok, prior to adding it to the sauce. No plated pics, because the natives were restless… and starving!#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

*You* don't need this book for the recipes, but I think you'd enjoy perusing it. It makes for a good read.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Way to jump back in with a great cook right there.
SOSDD with the occasional middle school drama is all you've missed here. Even the OT section is running along with the normal left-right dustups.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
Just read the professional reviews in amazoid. You're right, I'll probably enjoy reading more about our people as much as the recipes.
Edit: Learned from the first reader review from Canada that the author visited Toronto, hence the Tangra style Indian-Hakka recipes.canuckland -
"Foreward by Martin Yan" - is that the same Martin Yan from the 80s with many cookbooks, a TV series, and a wok pun for every occasion? He was a hoot, i have some of his cookbooks, should dig them up.~~
Walk softly, leave a good impression.

The recipes in this book are unlikely to be like Yan's recipes, but he's been in the game for so long, that there may be some similar recipes in his repertoire.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -
Too many cookbooks collecting dust here, going to kick all five tires first

pro move, @Canugghead. We are also fortunate that our library has a good selection of cookbooks to borrow.
Even though so many (most?) recipes, etc. are available online, I enjoy the feel of turning pages, and end up buying a fair number of cookbooks. Its not the worst vice to have, by far#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.
