Phone removal in the schools
Interesting story on the news this morning. A school in New York City locks away their students' phones upon entry, and they don't get them back until the end of the school day (not even during lunch) and it completely transformed the learning environment, not just test scores/engagement, but depression/suicidal thoughts/isolation were reduced significantly. All these issues started and increased during the 2010's, long before the COVID thing happened. They already do this in UK, France, Italy and Portugal.

Most schools supposedly require kids to keep their phones in their pockets during class, but we were all students before and know how well that would work. Neat advancement.

During the Virginia Tech shooting my niece was hiding in a closet and using her phone on text to get in touch with campus police.
