Making the Perfect Brisket

Got your attention, didn't I?  ;)

I think this video is new.   At least, I've not seen it yet.

Worth your time, as are most things Franklin.  Enjoy.

Good video and the wrap discussion is a copy of the below Franklin video:

Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.
  • Absolutely loved the first video, haven't looked at the second one yet.  I have a nice brisket in the freezer and just need to find the time to thaw it out and cook it on our lBGE.  I think I will go with the butcher wrap method.

I think I had seen these videos before, but just on PBS, it looks like they've been added to ewetube just in the last few days.
Here he builds a smoker from scratch, which begins with him pulling his truck's winch cable into a ravine to haul out a dumped propane tank!  I learned some interesting things:
    - Aaron's a lot more scared of blowing up vs being electrocuted,
    - A neat temperature-probe mod using an onion,
    - The shadetree method of calculating/marking the intersection of two spheres, etc.
I'd taken welding classes in both Jr High, and college, but have never owned any kind of a welder; a craft that looks fun but I never really got into; those parts were fun to watch.
    Enjoy!

(odd, I can copy the Share link on ewetube, but I can't paste it here; Sonoma bug?)

haha, I avoided this thread.  I figured it was a full on flame fest in here .... but then I pop in and see an Aaron Franklin video, so title was well chosen.

Perhaps you could use that nest egg and buy a welder?  Then sign up for some community college welding classes.  With your VA benefits you may be able to to have Uncle Sam pay for them.

I don't have the  space.  I'd love to have a lathe in my woodshop, but not even room for that.
A neighbor built about a 24' x 36' cinderblock building that he uses for a shop/vehicle storage, on a separate parcel next to his house.  He's older than I, and if it ever goes up for sale I'm tempted to nab it.
