Pita Bread (Big Green Egg’s Recipe)

Pulled out the big green egg cookbook and gave the pita bread recipe a whirl. I usually don’t fare too well with baking, so this was a success for me.

Got some chicken and veggies marinating to go with it later, along with tzatziki. Might emulsify some of the veggies after they cook up, to see if my kids might be convinced to dip the bread in it.

Will post another pic or two later, unless it sucks.

Looks like a great effort and corresponding result. Looking forward to more photos.

Egg was too hot and the CI grate is heavy, so didn’t bother removing the grate before adding the spider and wok. I had already lost enough arm hair for one day.
Not the best plating, but pretty good! Fun cook.

Love it. Beautiful textures and colours. Bet the twins ate it up!

Thx! They loved the chicken and bread, but not fooled by the emulsified veggies.GrateEggspectations said:Love it. Beautiful textures and colours. Bet the twins ate it up!

In case it’s of help, we’ve had great success feeding veggies to the kids with soups made via Vitamix. I add cottage cheese for protein and creamy texture. Our most common usage of the blender.Dyal_SC said:

But I may have a skewed view; my wife still insists that anything not consumed by the children at dinner time be eaten by them at breakfast the next morning - and they eat only what we eat. The strategy has yielded exceptional results. 100% success rate. 🙂 Our nine year old now eats absolutely everything - home and elsewhere - and does so wearing a smile. She’s even started dabbling in hot sauces. Adventurous eating has actually become a point of pride for her, which has been amazing to watch. -
The pita looks perfect. Great cook!

Thx sir! Might dabble with a homemade pimento cheese this weekend. Need to figure out how Cava’s seasons and repurpose their pita chips too, as I have a bunch leftover.caliking said:The pita looks perfect. Great cook!

What a project and incredible outcome right there. As always, nailed the cook. Congrats.

@GrateEggspectations - I love that kid eating incentive your wife employs. At what age of your kids did that become the rule?

Soft launch from a young age before being applied rather rigorously at the age of three to four. There were some difficult moments initially, but the benefits quickly revealed themselves and once the kids knew what was what, compliance was absolute.lousubcap said:@GrateEggspectations - I love that kid eating incentive your wife employs. At what age of your kids did that become the rule?Funny story…. We stayed with friends (you’d recognize their rides) at their place in Florida for an extended period in March of 2022. Their kids are very difficult eaters; we’re talking extreme cases. From day one, my wife had their three girls finishing plates of fruit they otherwise never would have touched. This, from the very first day there.I’d say she has a gift. -
@GrateEggspectations , send her to SC to work some magic over here.
