Corned Beef Round?

Bride of Teefus hit the store today to get the St Patty’s corned beef brisket. All they had was corned beef round. I’ve never heard of such a thing. It sure looks lean and tough. Brisket shortage this year?

I made pastrami out of one for stupor bowl sundae.

I did some research and while more commonly used for Pastrami, round is often used for Corned Beef. Whodathunkit? Some of the articles I found suggested that it's actually better than the flat because it's leaner. We'll give it a whirl and see how it shakes out.Michiana, South of the border.

i like the points better for pastrami, more moist. this one was a flat cured with just salt and spice. a few butchers here take pastrami as bragging rights. st pats day we boil them though adding malt or red vinegar when serving at the table.

The missus picked up a flat for just in case. We're going to cook both and see what we prefer. Worst case scenario is I'll be eating corned beef hash a couple mornings next week. It doesn't seem like much of a burden.Michiana, South of the border.
