Bottom Vent

So my bottom Vent was gunked up and wouldn't slide. I thought I'd remove it and give it a good cleaning. I never got it off; however I did remove the four stop bolts around the outside. I got the vent cleaned enough but those four bolts won't seat on anything so I'm unable to put them back on. Has anyone had similar issues?

Take your fire box out, you can get to the nuts there , they don’t thread into the ceramic ( at least mine doesn’t )Visalia, Ca @lkapigian

What @lkapigian just said! Just curious though how did your vent get that junked up? Never even heard of that issue before!

Once you get the bolts back into the nuts and tightened, you should not ever have to remove them again. The door will actually slide OVER the 2 bolt heads to completely remove it for cleaning. And then slide back over those heads and into its slot. Easy peasy.

I agree, and if the OP really wants to do it right then he needs to make that lower vent air tight by squirting on a bead of simple scilicone around the perimeter!littlerascal56 said:Once you get the bolts back into the nuts and tightened, you should not ever have to remove them again. That vent is siliconed into place, to create a seal ... you don't want air leaking in between the face of that vent plate and the ceramic shell. That's why the vent couldn't be removed. You didn't remove the silicone did you? Otherwise, good bye to air flow control, you'll have leaks galore. Easy fix though.Napoleon Prestige Pro 665, XL BGE, Lots of time for BBQ!

Removed the firebox, and I was able to recover all four nuts and washers (amongst the ashes
). Thanks
