Is this a good deal and worth the spend?

I currently have a large BGE and wanted to move to the XL for more space to cook on as I have 7 in my family. I was looking at the BGE XL for $1399 abs the Big Green Egg Cooking island for $3,699.99 totaling $5522.70 with tax out the door. I was able to locate a local guy selling both brand new with warranty from BGE for $2700 delivered and installed? Thoughts?

More important than the price, do you like the table, like the egg, and does it fits your space? No matter the deal, its is best to try and get exactly what you want. If not, you will just be back looking again.
With that said, that is an excellent price on a good package. Does he have a table that would fit your L and the new XL?I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Is the “local guy” someone working at say an Ace hardware store or just some rando off the street?"I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

THis guy works for BGE distributor and is able to get this pricing. I have seen this guy sell of 100 BGE's on Facebook marketplace without issues. always brand new.

He selling me the table for $1500 the XL BGE for $1100 and $100 to deliver

Thanks. What is he selling the XL at, if you just wanted to purchase that and not the table?DinanRated said:THis guy works for BGE distributor and is able to get this pricing. I have seen this guy sell of 100 BGE's on Facebook marketplace without issues. always brand new.
I only ask because while those tables are certainly nice they’re definitely way overpriced in my opinion."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

Personally, I’d jump at the XL at that price point these days. I think the table is also a pretty good deal relative to what they normally sell for, so it’s up to you if you want to spend that much all together."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

thanks, John, I was hoping someone had one and could share their experience with it. I am pulling the trigger on both i think as they make a handsome pair..

There are plenty of people here who have one. The trick is getting them to notice this post and chime in.DinanRated said:thanks, John, I was hoping someone had one and could share their experience with it. thank you, I'm selling the large and I do like the table and its design, looks well together with the egg! Pulling the trigger will tide me over till the new home is built with a custom outside kitchen. still months away🥴Ozzie_Isaac said:More important than the price, do you like the table, like the egg, and does it fits your space? Skip the table and go with a nest. Especially if you're months away from building an outside kitchen. You'd be lucky to get half of what you'd pay for that table if you were to sell it in the future. If you plan to keep the table in your new outside kitchen it might be worth picking up.DinanRated said:

I have to admit the $100 delivery fee is kind of funny. You're about to drop almost 3K and the delivery fee isn't included? You might see if they can wave that. That should be included in the package."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

I have the real basic Challenger cart for my large BGE. I want to say it retails for around $1,500 and I picked up off Craigslist for $100.

Just to give you an idea if the table is a short term investment. It might be worth holding off and going with a basic nest until your kitchen is complete."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

I like that setup and it makes that large egg look bigger imo. Thought about the nest as well, but decided to get the table for now and might leave it behind with the current home as my inlaws are moving into our old home. I want to enjoy the setup this summer as we entertain a lot and the new home should be completed by 9/22, we hope. We have had many issues with supplies to complete the build. Hard time getting the limestone, various stones and even wood etc.WeberWho said:I have the real basic Challenger cart for my large BGE. I mean this sincerely and am not being a smarta$$…. You will get better uptake from members with experience if you list the product in your thread title. You could always start a new standalone thread looking for opinions on the island.DinanRated said:thanks, John, I was hoping someone had one and could share their experience with it. Good luck on the decision.Quite the score, @WeberWho. Love the thrill of such a deal. -
I agree with the nest recommendation if you don't have your patio built. That is unless you really like that table design (I've never been a fan of the looks of it) and plan to incorporate it into your patio design.

Love mine and I thought it was a steel at $2200 five years ago. It's a little different than the newer models, has a solid back and painted metallic green with a grey trim and tabletop. The sliding shelf on the newer is positioned lower allowing it to accommodate more.
It's definitely a great price on the island. Much better than the 15% off the XL

Another thing to consider is putting your egg on a nest. They say you don't need it with the island but the bottom of the egg does get really hot. It also gives a little more room at the intake incase you would like to use a genius or some other bellows system.

@DinanRated Please think twice about selling your large. I have 2 larges in my outdoor kitchen and an XL on a Cuna cart (highly recommended) the large stainless shelves are very useful.
If I have a crowd I can run eggs at different temps and can smoke on the XL moving it around to avoid smoke in my outdoor space where guest are enjoying appetizers and cocktails.

think I'm going to keep the large as well 😉for more versatility! Plan to keep the xl in the table and the large on the nest to move around when smoking. great advice!Money_Hillbilly said:@DinanRated Please think twice about selling your large.
