I used 91% iso a few times, yet finding it during the hoarding of 2020/21 was impossible.RRP said:Unless I missed it elsewhere in this thread I am probably in the .001% of the egger nation who prefers to use a few squirts of 91% isopropyl alcohol followed by a wooden match tossed in. Just gotta be careful or it will go BOOM!

At least I never ran out of bacon
Now, in my case bacon grease is a more precious byproduct as I only fry 4 slices per week and I save it since I always saute any onions in it. So to me burning bacon grease is a waste! LOL

I'm in the paper towel and oil camp, which works about the same as the starter cubes and is more reliable than lighting potato or corn chips.Stillwater, MN

Yes, Sir! BTW on Sunday I will be making one of our favorite big pots of chili and I will use 1/4 cup of that wonderful bacon grease to sauté onions in that grease which I save, protect and...well...you get the idea! Not for me; the fire starters are lit within a few seconds, I don't have to stand there aiming at a target in the coals, nor do I shoot sparks anywhere. Fire Starters may take a bit longer than using my JJGeorge, but I'm retired so that doesn't matter.jdMyers said:

Wife really likes bacon and I really like sausage, we save the grease from each, thereby, we have some of each for seasoning and sausage-gravy & biscuits...old school here. Especially when I have some slices of fresh mater for my biscuits/gravy,RRP said:

I guess I'm old fashioned but I use a BGE fire starter cube and let the fire get going while I'm prepping my cook.

I have used it all. For me, the easiest has to be the weed burners from harbor freight. I buy 2-3 at a time when they go on sale, and each one lasts a little over a year left out in the elements.

We had some sausage grease, so I took some paper towels and lightly dipped them in. The charcoal lit up easily enough.
