Cabela grinders

My kitchen aid grinder attachment recently cracked and I stumbled across the cabela deluxe and heavy duty meat grinder. Was wondering if either of those cabela options is a worthy upgrade.

I don’t know anything about their “attachment” grinders. But their Carnivore series grinders are impressive. I have a friend that has one. It is awesome. He has the 1 3/4 hp model.

I have a Cabela's 1hp grinder and it's seriously heavy duty. It'll plow through a 100lbs of venison faster than you can feed it. I love it.
That said, it's extremely heavy and kind of a pain to clean, so don't get one unless you plan to use often or need to process large amounts. If you're grinding anything under 10lbs stick with the KitchenAid.

The Cabelas grinders pre-Bass Pro were fantastic. Heavy duty, almost all stainless. I’m sure the Carnivore grinders are good but I was disappointed to see them go away from mostly stainless construction. I’m getting ready to buy and think I’m going to go with a Weston or LEM. I’ve used both to process elk and mule deer in the past and they’ve left me thoroughly impressed.

I got the deluxe one for 139 and it blew threw two passes of 22 lb mixture of brisket short rib and chuck. My only prior experience being a kitchen aid attachment, the cabela grinder blew me away.

Any of them would be a big improvement over the Kitchen Aid. I was afraid I was going to burn my mixer up, so I bought an old cast iron 100# unit. Loved how it worked, but wanted something newer that could accept attachments. I would go with a #12 if you can swing it, they are much heavier duty than the smaller ones. I went with an LEM, as they make a really nice unit. Thought I'd go a little bigger, so wanted a #22. Couldn't get my hands on a 22, so went with a 32! This one is stupid big and unnecessary. You could just trip the cow and push her right in there! Wish I had gotten a 12 or 22, as I doubt I'll ever need to grind 17 lbs per min.

I went with the LEM 3/4hp #12 and it's almost over kill. It will grind brisket like it was butter. The only reason I went this large was to have the power to double course grind. On the smaller grinders even the course disc is to fine of a grind to really double grind.

I have a sausage stuffer attachment that works ok, but it's more clumsy than using a dedicated vertical/tower stuffer b/c you have to continuously feed your sausage mix down the hopper.
