Anyone have any ideas where to get a LARGE cutting board without having to spend a fortune?
I'm talking like 22" - 24" wide x 14" - 16" deep.
Everywhere I look, I'm seeing like $400, $500 ... insane prices ... I can get a small table for that price!
Any ideas to get something decent for under $100, maybe with a routed out channel to catch le juice??

What material are you looking for? Wood, Plastic?
If I were looking for something that large, I would look at buying just a piece of HDPE material in the size you want.
Although, this one looks pretty cheap, but it doesn't have a channel.

Do not know where you are located, but I got the large square version of this a few years ago and love it! The larger square one does not seem to be available anymore , only round version now.
Highly recommend concave board.
I do not know if they ship to US, $109 Cdn.
I also paid $20 for another regular wooden one like 15 years ago, still looks like new, but I have sanded it a few times and oil regularly.

For meats I would prefer plastic as opposed to wood simply for the contamination issues. For vegetables, I have a medium sized wood one.

This boos block is 24” * 18” and $110. Its edge grain so not as nice as end grain but thats what you are gonna get for $100. This is not a great board, it’s a decent board. Bamboo, probably not great on expensive knives, etc., but it doesn’t really cut and doesn’t need oil, so it’s easy to keep it clean. I have one and we use it daily, it’s our second one, the first wasn’t bamboo and the wood broke down after several years. IKEA calls it a chopping board. One side has a channel, the other does not. The lip is good for the edge of the counter when you use that side, it’s stays out and we use it as a workspace for all kinds of prep, not just cutting.

Dave, is that a 12" x 12"? If so, it's not going to work for a nice brisket or any large piece of beef. You domt want to slice a brisket on a wood board. The scalloped edge really messes up a wood board.Mark_B_Good said:

I like the Epicurean boards, because they can go in the dishwasher. Although, you'd need a mighty big dishwasher for that size.

This is the $110 Boos i posted a link to above after 10 plus years of use. Both sides look like this. Edge grain will show wear pretty quickly.

This is one of my end grains from greenriverwoods on Etsy. This board is probably 8yrs old but gets more use than the Boos and still looks brand new. If you can afford it I would spend the extra money.

I currently have a 12 x 18 bamboo board ... it's actually pretty nice, but I didn't know they chew up knives.

If you live in or near a big city, look for a restaurant supply store. They usually have the teflon/white plastic cutting boards for very cheap.

Find a couple friends that want big cutting boards and split an unfinished butcher block counter top. You can buy them at most large hardware stores. Very economical.

@nolaegghead that is a great idea ... but I did want the liquid catch channel in it. Wonder how hard it is to router one in??

It's a pretty easy router job. You'll need a half round bit that corresponds to the size catch channel. To make it fool-proof you'll need to fashion a guide and some stops. Do a practice run with the bit just barely touching. If you don't fck up, drop the bit down and go for it. A plunge router will make it easier.

Earlier this year I bought a nice, thick end grain board from Mercari for $17 shipped. I sanded to get cut marks out and reoiled. It took a couple weeks to find a deal.
