Shed Oops

I don't have a fancy outdoor kitchen. I don't even have any outdoor furniture yet. But I do have a new patio pad and a new shed. Which I screwed up when I specified what I wanted.

See that ice in front of the doorway? And see how the slick metal roof dumps it right in front of the door? Yep, that's the problem. I keep my medium BGE in that shed. And I won't be able to use the BGE until that ice melts off. Yeah, I should have cleared the snow away but since I hire someone to do the snow removal, it never crossed my mind. And now -- no grilling this winter.
The shed itself is a decently-built one. Tuff-Shed did okay and I'd get another from them if I were still in the market. It's my own fault that I asked for the door on the side instead of the end. Or maybe I could have had the roof's slope made so that the snow dumped on the ends rather than the sides. I could even have oriented the shed so that the door wasn't north-facing.
Like I said, "oops."

Dang it! Could a gutter be added to take the water to the sides?

No way I'd let a little ice keep me from egging for 4 months. A thick, square shovel also works great when you have to go somewhere and don't have time to do the driveway first, and pack the snow down.
My next-door neighbor had a metal roof put on his house like that, and when conditions are right the whole blanket of snow (up to 12") slides off at once, he says it scares the sh*t out of the family every time (and so far has missed their yappy sh*t-dog every time, but I remain hopeful).___________"They're eating the checks! Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -

Put a mat down where the ice forms. Pull out ice and mat to open door. Shake ice off mat or just put back. Salt under the mat.______________________________________________I love lamp..

Wouldn't a hair dryer or heat gun take care of that?

Cold water melts ice. Won’t re-freeze as long as ambient temperature is above freezing. There’s always a way my friend

I agree with the snow guards as well. This prevents snow/ice sliding off the roof in huge amounts at one time. Also, it should not be that hard to have a door put on the gable end of shed. Looks like you have some nice concrete on that end too. Egg on!Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

Attach ice cutting razor blade scrapers to the bottom of the door. Warning - do not open door barefoot.

The easy fix is to put 4x4 or even better 6x6 pressure treated posts under the shed to lift it ... ice won't be able to reach that door then.Napoleon Prestige Pro 665, XL BGE, Lots of time for BBQ!
