Detroit Style pizza

This is becoming my favorite pizza. Made the dough a few hours before using this video (https://youtu.be/ijHutbC2JnE )as a guide. 500 degrees, indirect legs down for like 20-25 mins. The crust is unreal.

I'm not familiar with Detroit style, but if that's it, it sure looks great.

This is like the third time Detroit pizza has popped up on my radar, this week! Think it must be time to try it; yours looks fantastic.

It’s super easy and super good! I drizzled some mike’s hot honey on this one and it was fantastic.Botch said:This is like the third time Detroit pizza has popped up on my radar, this week! Think it must be time to try it; yours looks fantastic. -

I've done this style a few times lately, but my kids politely asked me to stop making the upside down pizza and go back to my old way. My 6 yr old called it that because on top of dough you go meat, cheese, then sauce. I have to say I like this style for the "burnt" cheese crust you get from the pan.

Looks terrific. I particularly dig the fresh jalapenos and red onion.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

What makes it a Detroit style? It kinda looks like a Sicilian?

I learned about Detroit pizza from the pizza show on YouTube. The pans they use started in the 30s and were from the car factories. The carmelized crust is what makes it different. https://youtu.be/n2BgkHV373Astv8r said:What makes it a Detroit style? It kinda looks like a Sicilian? -
I think it'd be pretty easy to pile the ingredients differently on the pie in the middle, and pile the cheese against the sides per Dee-twah, and just eat your kids' crusts.RyanStl said:I've done this style a few times lately, but my kids politely asked me to stop making the upside down pizza and go back to my old way. That sounds kinda weird, but it's 2020 so go for it.
