BGE XL alignment issues

I’ve got a 10 year old XL egg and decided to replace the assembly - was having issues after pizza cooks where the lid get super wonky and wouldn’t open right.
So went out and bought a brand new assembly. Took everything apart, replaced the assembly and got it all situated. Used the spacers to make sure the bands were the proper distance apart. After tightening the bands, did the dollar bill test and all was good. However, as soon as I put the springs on, the whole back of the egg has a good 1/8 inch gap or so. The only part of the lid that passes the test is the front. Take the springs off and everything is fine.
Any help on what to try would be greatly appreciated

I'll give it a shot. Loosen the bands slightly and increase the space between them in the back and re-tighten.

Just to put it out there: after loosening the bands, make sure they are tight enough that your dome doesn't fall out when you lift it back up!

If you got a new style assembly then adjustments should be able to be achieved with the slotted attachments on the top band alone. Also, I’ve found the spacers to be far less important with the new style bands as the top front is static due to the clips above the handle. I use them as a guide for sure but if you need to vary a small amount from what the spacers suggest, roll with it.
