OT: curled leather craft work

Options
sorry for another OT post, but in my defense there is wealth of knowledgeable folks on this forum.
So, I found this leather craft work that has been in a steamer trunk in my basement for 30+ yrs.
My dad was in the Philippines & Japan during WWII so I would say prob 75 yrs old.  I would like to get it
straighten out and framed.  The front side has a finish on it (shellac?).
What do you recommend?
All help is appreciated, Thank You!

Generally speaking, you should avoid trying to clean it....dusting is ok.  If you clean an old coin, for example, it can ruin the value.

No idea. The curl doesn't look too bad in the photo, perhaps take this easy way out... frame it with a piece of glass over it, the glass should keep it flat and protect it from dust?  btw, when you frame please rotate the artwork 180, it's upside down in your photo  ;)

I would be afraid of cracking the shellac if you flatten the piece. What if you framed it with a glass cover that's raised slightly above the leather?

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
