Coal containment ring ?

Looking for a solution to contain a small amount of coal for quick cooks on my Large. I’m thinking something like a 6” length of 6” diameter carbon steel ring to set in the center and directly on the coal grate. I know many have the mini for small cooks but I’d rather not have multiple grills.
I appreciate any ideas .

CGS has a couple of versions of lump reducer rings

I would use a charcoal basket with a divider: https://www.amazon.com/Charcoal-Divider-Accessories-Stainless-Baskets/dp/B07THJG18S

Appreciate all the ideas. I’ll check them out. Looks like more than enough options. Thanks!!!

Got the vortex. So simple. Should have thought about this years ago.

Remember, you still need to heat the whole egg, regardless if you are using a ring. Just saves charcoal on direct grilling.

Great for making different heat zones. Love my XL CGS lump reducer.

Buy a $10 piece of expanded metal and stainless steel nuts and bolts from Home Depot to make your own.
-
That would have cost a bit less than the vortex.

I use a large KAB in my extra large egg, works great for quick cooks. You can move it to one side to work indirect without using the plate setter.
