2020 Rub and Sauce exchange

This came up over on Cazzy’s thread but I figured I’d address it on its own so as not to distract. The last few years of the exchange were a lot of fun. I didn’t think many people would want to be sending/receiving packages this year, but maybe I’m wrong.

Thoughts? What say you?

    I like the giving but I don’t know if we could get enough people together.

    I agree that things are not quite right for folks to get out and purchase, mail and receive under the current risk. I think the 4th of July was a natural target for deadline, if that makes sense. It should be picked back up next year assuming we are all in a more stable place. JMTC

    Bummer, dont see what's so hard about getting rubs and sauces. Seems I am at store anyway for other items.

    I’d do it again. I’m at the store masked up anyway once a week.

    Understand your point. In my case, I made trips to local BBQ joints to compile my gifting. Tried to send out local items that I have loved and enjoyed. For me it wasn’t just a trip to the store....but adventures I enjoyed.

    I'd do it (assuming I qualify).
    In fact, my buddies and I just started selling a new rub (Texas Tandoori). We sold out quickly and will be back in stock in a few weeks.

     Would love to get in the hands of people in this group.

    If they decide to hold it I will participate I just don’t know if we will have enough people. I have mail ordered a lots but mostly I just go to the grocery store across the street. They have an excellent local selection. A good target date would be Labor Day since the 4th has passed.

    When I first participated in the exchange, I didn't have enough post to be able to participate. As a way around the post count, Cazzy allowed me to put up a $50 deposit. When my exchange was successful, Cazzy refunded my deposit.
    Depending on who runs the exchange, this may be an option.

    I’m in. I can find enough stuff. Most local stuff which I prefer to send offers pickup at this point. I figure if I can buy it on amazon so can the other person and it defeats the purpose.

    Last year I got some great stuff from Memphis. I might look him up and just do our own exchange if an official one doesn’t happen haha

    I propose labor day as the target weekend for completion. Many of our Eggers would probably like to try out their new spices and rubs in the cool of the fall....

    @Ozzie_Isaac will be below 100F

    Thanks everyone for the input.  I looked over the numbers, and talked with my brain trust and we haven't got enough for a successful organized exchange this year.  We will try again next year.

    I would still love to exchange, just to get credibility. I live in Kansas and could send local products that I think are great if anyone is interested.
