OT: Driving through Atlanta?

Hey guys. My ladyfriend and myself are going to embark upon an adventure in the coming weeks, and unfortunately all routes carry us through Atlanta..seriously considering a couple of hours detour as I don't want to get involved in the protest mess....

How is driving through the interstate?

You really should not have any problems. With the Covid, it is quite easy to move around. No need to detour in my opinion. You can avoid the inner city also. I recently moved to Johns Creek (north of the city) and would be happy to meet up for a proper distanced beverage or meal. Safe travels.

Edit: happy to host you guys at my place as well.

NO issue on interstate.  I imagine you're not stopping and they haven't really allowed the protests to gain access to the highways, so, so far so good in that regard.  I would hesitate to get off the freeway and go through downtown, or anywhere right around there as that might be hunting for trouble, but if you stick to the interstates, I would not foresee any trouble for you...

I have driven to Florida 4 times in the last month or so and weekdays are your best bet right now to get through downtown. Last time i went through Thursday morning around 10 and never got below 65 mph. The weekend trip I took we got rear ended by a protestor in the middle of downtown and traffic was stop and go for miles.

You can drive anywhere in Atlanta any time of day right now and likely deal with no traffic. I work in town and have so every day even through quarantine/blm protesting and have only seen 2 old white men with flags.
    You'll be just fine. LOL.

I hit traffic on the weekend. Not from protestors just regular traffic. There were several caravans of protestors though but nothing blocking roads or anything just flags and people hanging out of cars. Not sure why my last post got flagged I was trying to help the OP out.

You can drive on 285 around Atl and not take 85 through downtown.

Don't know what direction you're coming from, but if going North to South or vise versa take 285 on the west side of town.  I wouldn't recommend going 75/85 through Atlanta unless you have business down  town.
