Thermoworks ThermaQ

I'm looking at the ThermaQ, either the standard High Temp, or the Armored High Temp.
Both warn that that the wire gauge means your egg will not seal properly.

Thoughts:
1 - Will a newer gasket mean I'm okay?
2 - Any success threading one of the cables through the standard BGE dome thermometer opening?

Either should work fine. A small leak is not big deal.

Im sure that the larger cable will not fit through the dome hole. Much less multiples. Just run across the gasket and let it rip.

FWIW, run your cables "Above" the legs of your platesetter ( if using ) even with the higher temp cable

good idea.  after losing a few cables that i thought were rated for the heat, i've started wrapping in aluminum foil for a bit of protection.
