Hey all. I’m curious if there is a cast iron grid for the xl. I might be searching the bge site wrong but I can’t seem to find one. Any suggestions? Thanks

Stick with the stainless steel and don't waste your money on the cast iron.XLBGE, LBGE, MBGE, SMALL, MINI, 2 Kubs, Fire Magic Gasser

There are half grids if you want them for the XL:

Two halves make a whole

Get cast iron if grill marks are important to you, otherwise stick with the stock grate.South of Nashville - BGE XL - Alfresco 42" ALXE - Alfresco Versa Burner - Sunbeam Microwave

Awesome thanks for the link. I guess to me the cast iron grid is just a optional piece I want for when I want to show off the great steaks we seem to make weekly haha

Check out the Ceramic Grill Store. They used to have them. Then find a spot in your garage to put it after you have used it a few times.
I would rather have the Adjustable Rig."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I checked out that eggspander and that thing looks like it’s an endless amount of possibilities. Is that what you mean by adjustable rig?YukonRon said:Check out the Ceramic Grill Store. They used to have them. Then find a spot in your garage to put it after you have used it a few times.

i bought the smokeware cast iron plate setter for my XL.
It is a novelty, but so is the entire egging concept IMO. I have used it once in last 6 months to sear wings. It works. A half moon grate would have been fine as well, or even a cast iron pan that I already owned....XL BGE and Kamado Joe Jr. -

Be sure to get the stone and drip pan. Then go to RS and get the aluminum heavy foil serving trays to set in the drip pan.
Very easy clean up.
Get the Hgh Que fire grate as well. Easier than the KAB.
Talk to me about freezers after your next paycheck.
