I’ve done the toothpaste thing and also one of the actual kits. I noticed virtually no difference between the 2 except the kit cost a heck of a lot more than a tube of toothpaste. Both work well. Neither are permanent fixes but I can get about 6 months doing the toothpaste thing. So I figure 2 dollars a year it’s the easiest solution. Edit: for reference I have a 15 year old 4runner and have had to do this for about the last 6 years or so twice a year.

They are $50 each for my truck. Replaced them. $900 each for my car.

As an example. I cleaned one of my wife’s up with the toothpaste about 4 months ago. This is what it looks like today. Hers weren’t terrible but they were pretty foggy in the corners. You can see a little haze at the top still.

Tried a few different products with only temporary results on SWMBO's Jetta. Ended up hitting them with the DA using1500 grit MMM Trizact and clearing them with R-M DC92Been great for a couple years now~ John - Formerly known as ColtsFan - https://www.instagram.com/hoosier_egger

I think that’s the only way to make it last, a high quality sealer.ColtsFan said:Tried a few different products with only temporary results on SWMBO's Jetta. The Sylvania kit works well but takes about 90 minutes to do. However, it doesn't last forever and may need to be redone in a couple of years.

I use a low speed polisher with lambs wool or foam and a medium rubbing compound and then a fine polishing compound, then spray/coat with a protective outer layer. Lasts about 2 years. If you have a highly oxidized/pitted lens, then you can hit with wet/dry sandpaper, move up in grits to about 1500-3000 and do the polishing. You can do this all by hand, just takes longer and some elbow grease.______________________________________________I love lamp..

Huh. So you do it twice, because you forgot you did it the first time?

I think he posted twice: one time for each headlight.womaus said:Huh. So you do it twice, because you forgot you did it the first time?--------------------------------------------------

This kinda sounds like cleaning the grid or polishing your BGE?
For reference, I don't believe in car washes. That's why it rains.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Replace, not worth the effortYou can’t get to Loganville, Ga from anywhere. You have to start somewhere else

I just did a perspex screen on one of my bikes that was pretty scratched up. You can get the shine / transparency back with Meguiar's Scratch X by hand. For deeper scratches / pitting you need wet and dry. I started with 3000 - 5000 - 7000. The Meguiar's finishes it off. With the right power tools, it would be really easy.

In a pinch, Off bug spray will clear it up for a while.
For new headlights, use a 3M clear film and it will look clear for 15+ years and never dull.Aledo, Texas

Maybe they need to manufacture headlight lenses from the same plastic as the parking light lenses. They seem to hold up longer, even on the front of the vehicle.
