My wife is upstairs on her weekly HH call with 3 other gal pals.

She's laughing her ass off...might be the wine I keep bringing her.

She has been working her ass off the past few weeks as a member of the advisory committee charting the course of her company now and post covid.

I'm happy she can take this time to decompress and laugh.

I have been lucky in that I am moving into a new home as well as staring a new job, both within about the next month. These two things have both been the culmination of years of planning, but for them to happen now is both surprising and uplifting. Helps me stay positive during these strange times.
Congrats, brother!  Well deserved I am sure.

I drove a car fast, no tix, and no other issues.  Also gave a small gift card to a local Kroger manager and asked him to give it to any deserving employee.
I first read about this suggestion on another thread here.  Been doing it since.
A class act indeed.  Always pays to pay it forward my friend.  So ya like speed eh?

That’s so cool. Really nice gesture and one that I’m sure  goes a long way to making those deserving employees feel appreciated.

Tell us more about these fast drives. 🙂

Yeah @l@lousubcap, more about those fast drives.  And going 60 in a Volkswagen doesn't count.  :)

Since we have been social distancing  I don't think Mrs B and I have ever laughed with one another as much in 36 years of marriage.  We have always had a super great marriage but I appreciate her on entire other level.
@bucky925 Sometimes ya just don't see the forest through the trees, as they say.  Maybe we all need to stop and admire the trees.

  • @bucky925: Congrats on the milestone and on the recent time spent connecting. That’s priceless. In my books, it’s hard to experience anything that can top getting closer to one’s partner.

I appreciate the question but I won't right now.  Ask me on the other side and I might.

@lousubcap: Sounds like some excellent distancing techniques there.  Just make sure the end result isn’t imposed societal distancing (i.e., jail time). 😉

Good thing...I'm considered essential and therefore have job security. This morning figured out the diagnosis on a case prior to transfer to the internist. RDVM had missed. But critter is doing fine now.

Oddly enough got a Thank you note after performing a euthanasia on a client's dog. Shocking that would be the one case to get something like that on that type of case.  After the past month I've needed some wins on some cases.

And I've somehow managed to get every weekend off this month  :o

@lousubcap: You’ve sure got me curious on that ride. 😊

I'm too old to even be messing with speed (aka the stimuli-rocket fuel for me but not when on the road) but I still like to drive fast although at my age (70) I have throttled back at the high end.  About 125 mph or so is the best I will go on an open easy curving country road with decent site lines.  I could jump on the Interstate but that is almost like cheating.
I tell SWMBO, when I get caught I will be "go straight to jail" (no passing GO here) and the car will get impounded.  But I am doing a great job at social distancing.  So there's that. I need the periodic adrenaline rush.  That's my story and I have been sticking to it for as long as I can recall.
    Stay healthy and stay safe.

be careful out there, im seeing more cruisers out there, mostly unmarked. a few weeks ago i got the truck up over 140 mph on the interstate during a 5 oclock rush hour and did not even pass a vehicle. one and done, the steering on the truck almost locks up at that speed

Quite a few years ago I did an advanced astronomy workshop at McDonald Observatory. I took my road bike. Loaded it one morning and drove to town. I Made the climb up to the visitor’s center and then enjoyed the ride back down. I let it roll at one point and was descending at almost 50 mph. I just couldn’t take it - I kept thinking how ugly it would be if anything went wrong and slowed it down to a less dangerous speed.
I guess the point is high speed is relative - especially if you are wearing just a few mm of nylon...

we have a very popular "hill" in our area that Cyclists and Runners share a like, it is a high speed descent for sure, couple years ago a cyclist was descending at a high rate when a runner did a 180 to head back up the hill.....did not turn out well and the cyclist ( a loved teacher in the area ) lost his life.....be careful out there

    Still alive!

Cooked up some shrimp tonight and shared with a friend.

Some years back I was up in the Tahoe area, and a friend told me about a downhill that was good for fast runs on a road bike. I tried it, and was so intent on watching my speedometer creep past 60 that I wasn't paying attention to my position on the bike (important for where your center of gravity is). The bike started to do a high speed shimmy, and the handlebar started wobbling more and more. I  almost shat myself and started looking for a less hard surface to crash on. Luckily, I got things under control, dismounted the bike, and sat on the guardrail shaking for a while.

I never went past 30 after that.
XL BGE in San Jose, CA. Also a Pit Barrel Cooker, a Cal Flame P4 gasser, and lots of toys including the first ever Flame Boss 300 in the wild. And a new Flame Boss 500.

That happens on motorcycles too.  The dreaded "Death Wobble".

I hate that the economy is in the shape it’s in and we are all having to stay socially distant. However, spending more time with my wife and 2 little girls (6 and 9) has been great! It’s really been nice not having practices here and tournaments there, though I’m not wishing them away.  We are starting to look at things in a much different light. It’s also given me a lot more time to “slow down and grill” as Kingsford says....which is never a bad thing.

I hear that from so many of my friends....life was so much more enjoyable when things were more simple and less hectic, enjoy brother!
