What's your Egg plans for Thanksgiving?

With just over two weeks before the big day, what are your plans and technique for Thanksgiving on the Egg? I have a new ThermoWorks ChefAlarm on the way from Utah. I plan on getting a fresh 12-14# bird from Kroger. Three days before, I'll cut the wings off and spatchcock it. I'll take the wings and back and roast them and then make stock for gravy. I'll dry brine the bird for two days covered, then one day uncovered, before grilling raised direct with a drip pan. I think I'll try using the crock pot for the mashed potatoes, to free up the stove for other things. I need to get some more wine this weekend. Bourbon will also be on the menu.

Wife is making turkey inside so all the egg is getting as of now is a Ham. May do something else but haven't committed to anything yet.

Mad Max turkey and spiral cut ham are the plans here. As always make too much to ensure leftovers.

Well I host my 3 siblings, father, and everybody's kids so it's a big crowd. this year.....pork loin with cajun seasoning, turkey breast wrapped in bacon weave - malcom reed style, and PIT Ham - malcom reed style. All on the egg. Should be fun. Plenty of bourbon, gin, and beer as well. I have bought 200 glow sticks for the little ones to go nuts with when it gets dark. My favorite day of the year.

On a road trip with SWMBO that concludes on 11/26 late PM. T-day will be simple turkey and some sides. Several years empty nesters.
Now Sunday after T-day is turkey purge SRF (Black) brisket cook. Currently wet aging. That's what I'm waiting for. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -

Going to Austin to see the Kids. We are having it catered this year. Not going to lie. I am pretty excited. Three picky grown step daughters and one not so normal son in law. Sometimes I feel like a short order cook when they are all home. Next morning going to the Tech/Texas game. More excited about that actually.Midland, TX XLBGE

This year it looks like the Egg is taking a vacation. Christmas is tbd.

A little bit of heresy here. I cook the turkey on Wednesday, carve it up and put the meat in a big disposable aluminum pan with drippings (minus the fat) and turkey broth. Cover and in the fridge it goes. On Thanksgiving, Wilma and my daughters cook the sides they like. An hour or so before meal time, the turkey pans go into the oven and we eat on time. If extra oven space is needed, the egg gets reheating duty.

I want to make Derby Pie as well. There will probably be Pumpkin also. Green Bean Casserole. Store bought yeast rolls. And then to switch up the traditional stuff I was thinking a Cranberry Jalapeno Dip and a Cream of Sweet Potato Soup. I'll pass off some of these sides to our close friend of the family that's coming to join us, so the menu isn't set in stone yet. The bird, gravy, and mashed potatoes is a go for sure from me.I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

Putting a grocery list together now. I will be making Chocolate Avocado Banana Bread, Blueberry Walnut Banana Bread, and sweet potato casserole for the extended clan Thanksgiving this Sunday. Actual Thanksgiving will just be three of us and rather laid back.

Sounds like smart over stress @Fred19Flintstone! Can't argue with that!

Like @jlsm, I think I am doing a Franklin-style turkey breast--although I am considering doing a ham instead. We'll see! Mrs. Lopey would prolly have me do both!

I'm thinking about doing a few boneless turkey breasts and some legs separately because that versus whole turkeys can be carved and served in no time.

I would love to do a spatch turkey and/or just some Franklin breasts, but the gravy with Mad Max is just soooo damn good.
