Chicken cheat...

Swung by Costco on my way home tonight. Was looking for prime packer briskets - had none, only choice flats @$6.39 per # - no, thanks. Picked up a consolation prize - $4.99 for a whole rotisserie chicken (much cheaper than my local grocer wants for a raw chicken!).
Got home, cracked the bird out of its cage and let it cool, whole. 90 minutes later, it had cooled and stiffened-back to where it could be handled without falling apart. Used kitchen scissors to split it along the spine and breast bone.
Dropped it on the Egg, 275, at the felt line, 15 minutes per side, a little oak smoke...
Yummmm!

Not a bad deal for $4.99 and some lump!

That looks like an improvement on an already good product. Could you taste the smoke? Seems like the skin crisped up.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

@caliking Just a hint of smoke (handful of chips that likely burned before I put the chicken on), and the skin did crisp very nicely. As you said, those chickens are great as they are, but I wasn’t ready to eat when I got home and I needed to fire-up the egg to burn off all the leftover fuel in preparation for an overnighter tonight (brisket). So, I thought I’d give it a try.Maryland, 1 LBGE

My favorite costco cheat is the pre cooked pulled rotisserie chicken, tossed and stirred into their mac and cheese, and add sriracha.
Cook as directed raised indirect with oecan.

I am going to have to give that a go. Great audible right there. Thanks for sharing.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
Props to you - if we ever buy a rotisserie bird from Sam's those suckers get ravaged in the parking lot or car before we even make it homeFormerly of Houston, TX - Now Located in Bastrop, TX
