I got mine from Michigan maple block co. Great board at a very good price. I like it better than my old Boos block.Belleville, Michigan

I recommend wood and not bamboo nor any type of ceramic or glass ones, if you have expensive knifes.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

I got one from https://rcarterwoodworks.com/ as a gift from the wife. Very nice! Has held up great and I am not nice to it. I do keep it oiled and 'waxed'.

Well - I read that advice somewhere, but now I can't find any support knocking bamboo - so I respectfully withdraw that warning. Me bad!!!!55Kevy said:Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
I’ve read that along the way as well.RRP said: -

Never knew that about Bamboo. Good to know for sure though.
To your original question, I would build my own. I made my last one and it was pretty easy considering I'm not some super tool pro. If you don't have the means go for a Boos block though. You will pay up for it but they are well worth it.
If you go the Boos way just look for the standard wood styles to save some cash unless you want some unique style. -
I know this is what you're supposed to do but I haven't oiled my Boos in a decade, at least. It's holding up just fine.MeTed said:Whatever board you get, remember to keep it conditioned with mineral oil.Philly - Kansas City - Houston - Cincinnati - Dallas - Houston - Memphis - Austin - Chicago - Austin

This guy makes some really cool boards. I have gotten 2 from him and love them. https://www.etsy.com/shop/GreenRiverWoods?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=623269340

The one I made with zero experience.

I love my Boos. There is a local guy in SC that makes killer boards. I own one by him and have given two as gifts. 1-2 other members on here have bought from him tooBoom

Thanks @RRP for the bamboo info. I'll have to consider switching. We use the bamboo for veg prep and a wood board (cheap generic) for meats.

Several years ago a student of mine gave me a BOOS 30x24 walnut board that he bought at a BOOS' outlet store for "blemished" boards. He said it was incredibly cheap compared to BOOS' prices. Neither he nor I ever figured out where the blemish was! Besides that - after the first use aren't all cutting boards "blemished"?
My only regret is that thing is extremely heavy for routine handling and at 30X24 it takes up a lot of counter space! I don't use it much since I store it elsewhere.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
My wife got the Norwex bug and went on a huge buying spree

@Fanboy, if he also makes rectangular boards, I'd be very interested in getting his contact info.FanOfFanboys said:
