ISO Heat Resistant Glove Recommendation
Col4bin
Posts: 28
Ive been enjoying my XL and seem to have found the affection for doing side dishes in my cast iron. Lately its summer squash and zucchini with garlic, S&P and a little olive oil. My problem is the dam cast iron is so hawt. I have tried two silicone items that just dont cut it. a mitt, and a pot holder. Both caused me to get burned.
So besides like a glove for that I may use with a wood stove, is there a gold standard for something that would be a worthy investment?
Thanks!

Yinenn gloves seem to be getting good reviews. Welding gloves are great but you lose so much dexterity using them.

Those do look good, @Mattman3969! I use the ones in the pic below. They generally work pretty well, but I have had my hand get pretty hot (not burnt, fortunately) a few times.

I noted they were rated for over 900°, but didn't think about there being a time limit. I found this chart for my gloves a few minutes ago and thought it might be useful for you, and others, to think about when selecting gloves.

Wear a pair of latex or nitrile gloves THEN the heat resistant ones... gives a little more protection too.Dallas Texas.

The original ove glove is pretty great. If the cast iron handle is heated you may need a glove and pot holders. I've found the latex gloves to not be that great for heat. Welders gloves also do really well with heat.

All of the above also need an additional layer of insulation for any length of holding time.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

Permit me to take a different twist about handling hot grills.
Over the years I have purchased and gone through a variety of hot gloves including ones recommended here. They have been cheap "welder's gloves" clear on up to a pair of very expensive "foundry workers gloves for those handling molten metals" which were over $100.
After some noodling I just figured out that for a person dealing with a HOT grill of "whatever" you need a place to put it DOWN RIGHT NOW!
That's when I made this.

Oooops...hit the wrong button! I made this using scrap 2x4 and covered the top with inexpensive aluminum flashing. The cabinet pulls at the back stopped the grill grate from going off the back.RRP said:Permit me to take a different twist about handling hot grills.
