Going to have to purchase a mattress for my room at duck camp..considering trying one of these? Anyone use.
Are these firm or soft?
I like a firm bed...
When I was in college i slept with a sheet of 3/4" plywood under my mattress...I currently have the second hardest tempurpedic made and I love it; but I
Don't necessarily want to spend that much money on a mattress I'm going to use 3 months out of the year.

I considered it but got a Casper instead. I used decking boards for slats . It is firm that way but I like it.

My parents attempted to replace their tempurpedic with a Casper. Hated it, returned it. I bought the cheapest tempurpedic for the camp a year or so ago. Best move I made. I have the tempurpedic cloud HD at home. The one at the camp ain’t that far off of it. 1/4 of the price too
  • Wife and I own a King Purple 3 (newer model) and it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made.
I would say %90 of the sleeping issues I was having have vanished and it happen basically the night we switched mattress.

Not sure I would spend that much $ on a bed I would sleep only 3 months out of the year on though.

I purchased a Bear mattress (internets mattress like casper, tuft&needle, purple)  Absolutely the worst mattress I have ever used.  It was like sleeping on the floor.

Mattress sales guy loved it though. I dropped 5k on a mattress from him after 30days of sleeping on the Bear.  I knew on day 2 I didn't like it, but they required 30 days before I could return.  Said my "body" needed to adjust to it.

The benefit of interwebz is no sales person or store.  Downside was it is a shot in the dark on if it will feel good to you.

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Had bought a memory foam two years ago. It was slowly killing me. Then we bought an King Split Top Air Bag from Sleep Number. Shelly's sleep # is 100! Mine is 35. Way to much money but it was worth it for us both to be comfortable and sleep well.

I’m always amazed at how much mattresses cost.

We bought a firm Simmons Beauty Rest for $550 15 yrs ago, and added a memory foam topper a few years ago. It’s awesome.

Needed a mattress for caliprince’s bed a couple of years ago. Bought a foam and cotton futon mattress from Amazon, with 3/4” plywood and a box spring from Costco underneath. Very comfortable.

Costco mattresses can be returned easily. Sam’s club has a better selection, with samples in store. I imagine there return policy is also better than any any mattress store.

We got the memory foam with the cooling gel beads from Costco 7 years ago. California king. They go on sale there a lot. It’s FANTASTIC. Cool to see them unfold, too. While it decompressed, I sprayed a lot of old spice around to help it defend itself against future farts.

I have a mattress company as a tenant. Interesting biz, the meat of the market is high volume low margin production. The killer with them is the freight costs, as they are huge and you just cant get that many on a truck. Most companies combat that by having several small regional factories rather than one monster factory. The factories are often individually owned and produce several different brands at once. I wish I knew information that is useful instead of this dribble...

Purple would be an expensive matress for duck camp.
I want a Purple 3 but I don't want that price they charge. I've slept on other cheaper brands. The soft ones are OK to start but they get hot. And sleeping on my side, they make my bad knees hurt the way they apply pressure.
