Asking for a friend. Awesome new built in set up.

Ever see this set up?  It wobbles. Yes, he’s shifted it around. No bueno.

Thoughts?

Not exactly that, but close to it many times. My advice is to pinpoint the high point of the wobble and depending on the height of the offset then just use metal shIms. Remember a "plane" is defined with 3 points only and never 4. HTH

Put sand between the base and the egg

Will the sand transfer heat to the base?  He’s got some granite down there, so maybe not a problem.

It would transfer heat to the stand, and then diffuse in the air like it would normally. I bet that stand is cattywampas

He says stand is from BGE. Kinda skeptical here.

I’d replace that base with a table nest and be done with it.

Try putting a carpenters level on the top. If the table was built or placed on an outdoors slab, most patio slabs have a slight tilt to one side in order to drain water. He might be able to shim the entire table but I can't see the base of the table.

    Personal opinion only...granite cracks.
Two types of granite out there...1) cracked granite and 2) granite thats going to crack.

Put something between that BGE and the granite base to isolate the heat.

I would be glad to do a dissertation on the properties of granite to anyone that give a shist, but the bottom line is to seal the heat as best you can from the granite surface.

Take care of that first. Then shim as needed.

    Best of luck.

It should have been schist, the metamorpic rock....which also cracks...lol.

Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions!

He likes the granite — not changing it out.
He says the nest he bought was rated better than the bge table nest and doesn’t want to go that route. Also concerned about dropping the height in a different nest.
Pretty sure he will try sand to even out the base-granite connection and the wobble. Maybe metal shims.

He ought to join this forum!  Way to bring out the ideas, Gents.
