Same question as above; Is it necessary to drill holes for drainage? I have a Large base that I'm thinking of using as a tomato plant pot next season. Tomatoes like lots of soil, lots of water, and good drainage.

I’m watching this. We have an XL base laying around doing nothing. The drainage issue had me thinking holes were needed, but the hairline crack might get bigger. Maybe some silicone sealant on the crack would help. 🤷‍♂️

I've been using my cracked large base as a planter for 2 years now - I put a pot inside the base, raised on a stone so that I would not have to fill the entire base with soil. No drainage holes and it's been rained in plenty of times. No standing water either.

The vent will take care of it.

I do have an update, first Gardenia bloom appeared few days ago. And it smells fabulous! More buds are ready to pop anytime now. Gardenias are finicky for me to grow, this one seems to like the BGE!
