The red bag stuff is legit.  I’m a Rockwood faithful but I’d buy the amount you want and be happy.

Maybe it was clearing out some bad stock, but I bought some on sale about a year ago and I’ve tried three bags and it’s big, smoky blocks that won’t clear for over an hour, even at 350.

I've gone through about 5 bags worth of it. I wasn't very impressed. I had the same issue that Legume mentions above. The majority of people seem to like it. Maybe some bad batches

Curious. I must say I’ve only used 3 bags so maybe I was just lucky.

First several bags I bought from Costco roadshow we’re fine.  Bought maybe six from Cabelas online sale and all crappy/sooty.

Does KJ lump include termites? Does that add more protein?

I don't remember where I bought my one and only bag I tried, but it was terrible.  I kept getting a whiff of what smelled like hot asphalt or burning tires.

I've only bought it from Costco, but it's always been great.  Now when I happen to see a roadshow, I buy 3-4 bags.  It's the best deal around for what to me, has been a quality lump.

I don't know if the bags they market to Lowes are different size or quality, though.

I’ve never had any problems with Kamado Joe lump. At this price why not give it another try.

I’ve never had a bad bag of KJ lump. It does have some rather large pieces. I’d rather have large pieces as opposed to smalls. I use a hammer on them.

It’s very good deal. I normally pay any where from $28 to $35 for charcoal. So I’m fully stocked for few months.

Have you tried driving over the bags with a truck first?
