Mini Max heartbreak!

My wife wanted me to cook some filets on the egg for mothers day, which is also her birthday. I have an XL egg which is outside and it is supposed to rain. I just built a large shop with a roll up doors. Since I did not want to disappoint, I went yesterday and bought a mini max with plans to cook it in the shop out of the rain.
I never took the box out of my car. Today I was going to get it out and ready. I watched a video about putting one together and they cut the box open on the side to get the egg out. I decided I would leave it in the back of my car and cut the box open and carry the pieces in one by one to be more manageable. Long story to say I peeled the plastic down from the dome and carried it to the shop. I wen back for the bottom and noticed the fire ring and firebox rings were broken in two and the bottom of the egg was cracked in two places on almost opposite sides. I sent a claim in to the company. I have never had a problem with my XL and wondered how their support and warranty departments are to deal with? Anyone have experiences with warranty service. My dealer is closed. Tried to call him first. Bought it New in the box from authorized "Gold" dealer.

Warranty service has always been good for me. Most here seem to say the same based on what I've read. Good luck.

That sucks, but they'll take care of you.

Your dealer should be able to easily replace it- either take in the whole thing or take pics of the broken pieces. IN the mean time though, it isn’t too bad to use an umbrella while you are cooking- just keep in mind that the umbrella will smell like smoke for a while so use one you wouldn’t mind that about

Thanks for replies. I have cooked in the rain before lol. Kinda used that as an excuse to get a Mini Max as I been wanting one to go with my XL. So, it's her fault, I had to buy it! 😀

I had no problems at all, just as you guys said. Now to find a portable table that I can set the MiniMax on to cook?

Glad they made it right for you. Enjoy !MSGulCoastEgger said:

Give the portable nest they offer a look. Real nice setup IMO. They also have come out with a set of awesome detachable acacia wood Egg Mates. Unless you must roll it around this setup is choice. Gotta roll it then a small SS table is perfect. Happy Egging!MSGulCoastEgger said:

Did I understand you to say that you were going to use the MMax to cook indoors? A VERY bad idea. Carbon monoxide is nothing to mess with. I'd rather cook in the rain and be wet than cook indoors and be dead.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Outside shop at large roll up door with fan blowing fumes, smells and smoke outsids

We ran a lot of fire calls for folks grilling in their garages and catching the roofs on fire over their heads - the flames don’t have to be anywhere near the ceiling to catch it on fire, just remember that.
You may be OK with your setup, you’ll have to be the final judge of thatDFW - 1 LGBE & Happy to Adopt More...
