Spicy Bacon Wrapped Scallops
It’s what was for lunch. An unusual Monday off. This is a favorite of ours.

Looks tasty and lovely plateup. I've tried scallops twice now and I just can't get over the grit. I heard diver scallops are better in that regard, but those aren't readily available without traveling to the coast.

Did the ones you tried still have the tendon attached? I've never had a gritty scallop when properly prepared.

I agree with Dylan and these came frozen from Costco. I did have to trim the foot plates on about half of them. No grit.

@Eggcelsior @bgebrent Nope, no tendon attached. Bought them the first time in Seattle and recently here in Atlanta. Both were previously frozen. Thoroughly washed them the first time and let them soak the last time. I'm not saying they were loaded with grit, but there was some present and it's a textural thing I just can't get past. They are so costly I just have a hard time giving them a third try.

Good question. Thin cut bacon, raised high indirect at 500. Like broiling as in the linked recipe. First time trying this on the egg. Worked.
