OT: 1 pull is all it took! - OT
Got my Honda mower out today for the first time this year and filled it with gas since I had run it dry last Fall. With just that 1 pull it went VARRRROOOM!

My Toro's been doing that for years. And I never run it dry in the Fall. I just top it off when it's time to mow again. One of these days, I really should change the oil.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Sometimes, mostly when your mower is young, it works too well.

My Dad has 1992 Toro push lawnmower. It fires up 1st or 2nd pull every spring going on 30 years now. Incredible machines.
I picked up a 1987 Toro a few years ago off Craigslist. The guy had it for $25. I offered him $15. He said if you come pick it up now you can have it for free. Can't beat free.
I was told it ran at one point but wouldn't start when picking it up. My intentions were to push mow the front of my house and use the rider in back. I soon realized I'm way too lazy walking behind a lawnmower. Even if it is self propelled. So it has sat idle for a couple years in my shed. Sick and tired of walking around it I decided to pull it out of the shed. My sister in law just bought a house and thought this might be a perfect time to get it moved and out.
I cleaned the carb up on it last week. Ran a new gas line and gas filter. Replaced the air filter. She fired up on the 2nd pull. Pretty cool to hear an old 2 stroke mower fire up. I still need to run the blade up to my Dad's shop to get it sharpened. My sister should have a good running mower for years to come. These old 2 stroke Suzuki motors Toro put in these mowers are bullet proof if handled right. They have a following online.
I'm sure the pictures are going to be all over the place and out of order. (This new Vanilla sucks!) She didn't see a whole lot of love from the previous owner. I at least removed the dirt.
I'm glad to hear your Honda fired up. They are nice mowers. My grandma's Honda push mower made part of my income as a kid mowing her yard. After my grandma passed it was sold to my Dad's coworker. Still runs like new.

I use this to sharpen the lawnmower blade. Quick and easy.

I think it might even be possible with the Worksharp Ken Onion sharpener. My Dad upgraded his old belt grinder last week. (I'm super jealous) He's been looking for anything to sharpen. The neighbor even brought his screw drivers over to get cleaned up. I like the simplicity of your option.

I'm still kicking myself for killing my LawnBoy about 3 years ago, bought in '92, because I forgot to mix some oil into the last can of gas I purchased. Gahh.
Got a new Honda 4-stroke to replace it, won't always start on the first pull but close. Only regret is that it's rear-wheel drive, not front-. I'll survive.

Angle grinder works fine for mower blades. I would not use a Ken Onion Worksharp, you will go through 20 bucks in belts and it will take forever.

They do not need to be like Japanese knife sharp, folks.

Hondas for self propelled walk behinds and only John Deere riders.
My BEST buddy was head of "Buildings and Grounds" for over 27 years for 19 schools with very spacious grounds. He took "much-o " pride in how the grounds looked. He would train and retrain any and all of the custodians who were responsible for their building. Was he a "bad ass?" Maybe, but with all the frequent civil rights law suits brought against other supervisors et.al. He was the only one to be named named ONLY twice! Oh...yes he beat both of those charges since all of the other custodians signed petitions supporting him him.

I sharpen my mower blades with a belt grinder as sharp as a 36 grit belt can get them, it makes a difference when you mow at 12 mph!

So an S2000 mower? At least you can oversteer and drift -cut around your trees.

I have a 9 year old pressure washer that is like a psychopath in the corner with a butcher knife. I used it three weeks ago for 2 hours and shut it down for 15 minutes. When I tried to restart it I pulled the rope so many times trying to crank it I got a huge blister on my finger.
The float was stuck in the carb. Fixed that, and the next day it cranked up on the first pull and ran 5 minutes before the pump went out.
I bought a new one that I have used a lot since then that so far always cranks on the first pull.

At least your mower still works when you pull on it.

I have not owned a mower for 13 years. I used to travel for work almost every week so I was only home on the weekends. I wanted to free up some of that precious weekend time so I started using a lawn service and gave my lawn mower away. I have been working from home 90% of the time for the past 8 years or so...but I haven't gotten around to canceling the lawn service and buying a new mower.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
